Hedge Fund Controller

Our client, a growing $500m global long/short equity hedge fund with 4-year track record looking to hire a controller to work with CFO. Great opportunity for a CPA with 4-5+ years of public /private experience to join a growing firm with an experienced, friendly and entrepreneurial staff.
Daily Trade Operations and Performance Monitoring
- Manage daily trade allocation, end-of-day trade processing and performance reporting
- Reconcile fund cash and securities positions to custodians and administrators
- Review and resolve all trade breaks
- Manage relationships with service providers and vendors
- Act as primary interface with Broker teams
Weekly
- Review and pay bills: QuickBooks, soft dollar and fund wires
- Research internal differences between the MSFS and Paladyne systems
Monthly
- Work closely with Director of Marketing/Investor Relations and participate in investor operational due diligence meetings and calls
- Review administrator’s monthly estimated and final NAV package
- Manage daily and monthly pricing of fund portfolios
- Interface with MSFS for month-end close processes/financial statement preparation
- Prepare management company accounting and reporting
- Prepare and review management fee calculations and investor allocations
- Work with auditors to review year-end financial accounts
- Prepare and review monthly investor relations support reports
- Review subscription documents for accurate recording in Backstop and investor allocations
- Implement controls and processes with other finance team members to ensure accurate data and consistency across products (i.e. tax filings, withholdings, and reporting)
Requirements
- CPA with public / private experience strongly preferred
- Minimum 4-5 years related experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel a must, Access is a major plus
- Experience in trade settlement, bank reconciliation, handling security reorganizations and corporate actions
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and IFRS reporting guidelines
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding of funds, fund structures, fee calculations, trading strategies, financial instruments and fund offering documentation
- Experience working with equities, currency forwards and equity swaps
- Attention to detail and excellent communication skills
- Ability to self-start, multi-task, and meet deadlines
- Entrepreneurial, team-oriented work ethic and personality
- Knowledge of systems, Backstop, Paladyne and MSPA strong preference
