Director of SEC Reporting and Accounting Policy

Our client is looking for a Director of SEC Reporting and Accounting Policy to establish processes to support the company’s accurate and timely filings with the SEC, and to ensure the company’s accounting policies are well documented and applied consistently. This role will improve operational efficiency, work with cross-functional teams, and prepare disclosures, all with a strong sense of ownership and urgency. In this role, you will be a key member of our Controllership function, reporting directly to the Chief Accounting Officer.  This is a hybrid role based out of our New York City and will require you to be in the office 2 days per week.

Responsibilities:

Establish and execute the SEC financial reporting process involving the preparation and filling of Company’s Forms 10-Q, Form 10-K, and other filings as needed
Responsible for preparing consolidated financial statements (including cash flow and equity), footnotes, MD&A, and completing GAAP checklists
Lead the company’s implementation of new accounting standards by evaluating the impact of new and emerging accounting standards.
Research guidance, prepare accounting memos, and work with external auditors to align on emerging transactions
Prepare entries for assigned areas, including but not limited to stock based compensation, debt, and business combinations
Preparation outstanding basic and diluted shares for EPS calculations
Manage filings and documentation in Workiva
Implement and maintain a system of internal controls that ensures that financial reporting is compliant with GAAP
Design, identify, and execute SOX controls for assigned areas
Support special projects and workflow process improvements
Ad hoc projects, as needed

Requirements:

10+ years of experience of progressive accounting experience with at least 5 years in public accounting
CPA is required
Workiva experience
Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting
Strong sense of ownership
Detailed oriented, result driven, resourceful, and comfortable with ambiguity
Strong desire to establish and improve cross functional working relationships
Strong communication, interpersonal skills, organizational and time management skills
Prior experience in managing and developing employees
Technology and/or media experience preferred
Functional experience with Oracle platforms a plus

Salary:  180-200k + bonus and equity
